Another Renovata search for Lobster Ink: Alexander Draaijer joins as CRO
Lobster Ink, the leading online learning platform for the hospitality industry, has appointed Alexander Draaijer as Chief Revenue Officer, following an executive search led by Renovata.
Lobster Ink began as a boutique face-to-face training business for teams working in hospitality in Safari Lodges across Africa. Deciding to take the training courses online, the business soon became the biggest hospitality training provider in Africa before expanding globally. The team was determined to apply the best of the lessons they had learned from delivering training in person to a scaled-up SaaS offering, and the result is a platform that delivers compelling and effective training , that meets learners at their level and is designed to be multi-lingual and multi-cultural from the start. The business took its most recent round of funding from JCAM Investment Ltd and is now used in more than 10,000 hospitality businesses in 120 countries, earning the 2018 EdTechXGlobal All Stars Startup Award.
Alexander has built value through B2B account-based sales across global markets since the early 2000s, from traditional enterprise technology through to modern SaaS solutions. At Dell, he led the local and central government sales team, consistently exceeding his sales targets. Moving to LogMeIn in 2008 as Sales Director EMEA, he built the regional sales organisation from scratch (including opening local offices as the company went public in 2009). Then, at Kaseya, the SaaS enterprise-grade systems management service, as VP, Global Sales he again built a world-class sales operation (30 offices, launch of new free and paid solutions). He achieved the same outcomes in the Regional VP EMEA role at Rapid7, the world leader in security risk intelligence solutions, again building the EMEA sales operation and HQ – this also led to Alexander co-founding a Rapid7 reseller. He joins Lobster Ink from Double Dutch, the award-winning provider of branded mobile event applications and the pioneer in applying a data-driven approach to the event industry, surfacing data from live events. He served there as GM EMEA, rising to GM International (EMEA & APAC).
Reporting to Maarten van Gool, the Chief Performance Officer, Alexander will own key revenue and growth targets. He will take responsibility for the company’s go-to-market strategies, and develop the systems, processes and KPIs for a high-growth sales machine in multiple territories.
