Another Renovata success with Coty: Eric Long joins as VP Global eCommerce Operations
Renovata continues its successful partnership with New York beauty products company, Coty, with the appointment of Eric Long as VP, Global eCommerce Operations; following a successful executive search by Renovata.
Coty was founded in Paris in 1904 and today is the #1 fragrance manufacturer, the #2 leader in salon hair products, and the #3 make-up provider in the world. Its iconic brands include Calvin Klein, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs, Max Factor, Rimmel and Wella. Its growth was accelerated in 2011 with private equity funding from Berkshire Partners and the Rhône Group. In June 2013, the business went public (NYSE: COTY), and since then it has made several significant acquisitions. In October 2015, Coty bought social discovery and marketing agency, Beamly, as a key component of its digital transformation strategy. Additionally, in October 2016 Coty acquired Procter & Gamble’s 43 beauty brands across perfume, hair and make-up, for $12.5B: the largest cosmetics acquisition in history.
Eric Long began his career at publishers, Hodder, but since 2006 has risen rapidly through the ranks at Newell Brands (Sharpie, Rubbermaid, Yankee Candle), culminating in Director, Global eCommerce – B2B. His roles at Newell have been characterized by deploying cutting edge technologies, process optimisation and a faithful dedication to data. For Newell, he built outstanding globally matrixed teams, led a digital content and production transformation in the enterprise eCommerce team responsible for $800M across key retailers (Amazon, Walmart, Target, HomeDepot) and has consistently maximised the profitability of the eCommerce operations under his stewardship.
Reporting to Sean Foster, Coty’s SVP e-Commerce (also recruited via Renovata Partners), Eric will be responsible for defining the eCommerce needs of each of Coty’s three business units in 130 global markets, to grow on-line revenues.
Coty is one of the world’s largest beauty companies with approximately $9 billion in revenue, with a purpose to celebrate the diversity of consumers’ beauty. Its strong entrepreneurial heritage has created an iconic portfolio of leading beauty brands. Coty is the global leader in fragrance, a strong number two in professional salon hair color & styling, and number three in color cosmetics. The business operates three divisions – Coty Consumer Beauty, which is focused on color cosmetics, retail hair coloring and styling products, body care and mass fragrances; Coty Luxury, which is focused on prestige fragrances and skincare; and Coty Professional Beauty, which is focused on servicing salon owners and professionals. Coty has approximately 20,000 colleagues globally and its products are sold in over 130 countries.
Coty and its brands are committed to a range of social causes as well as seeking to minimize its impact on the environment. With in-house marketing data expertise from Beamly, no other major beauty player has a more integrated approach to the consumer relationships that will drive eCommerce.
