Laurence Bret-Stern takes CRO role at sales management platform, pipedrive

New York’s pipedrive, the sales automation platform, has appointed Laurence Bret-Stern as Chief Revenue Officer; following an executive search led by Renovata.

pipedrive has attracted over 50,000 customers by tipping the balance of sales automation from CRM to the salesperson experience. Grounded in the philosophy of activity-based selling, pipedrive gives its users exactly the tools and guidance they need to sell effectively. Founded in 2010, the business has now attracted $31.7m in funding across 7 rounds from backers including Bessemer Venture Partners and Storm Ventures, $17.5m coming in a B-round in January 2017 led by Atomico.

Laurence joins from LinkedIn, where in a seven year tenure that led her to the Senior Marketing Director for Talent Solutions, EMEA & LATAM position, she is credited amongst numerous achievements with launching LinkedIn’s local France operations. Within two years, she had quadrupled the French member base and acquired 80% of CAC40 companies as customers. Moving to London, she then led a team of 25 marketers across 11 countries and sat on the LinkedIn EMEA Leadership board. Laurence has written a public note about the lessons she has learned in her career at LinkedIn, here. Previously, she worked in senior roles in French operations for AoL (European Marketing Director) and France Telecom and held an advisory board role at AN Digital.

Reporting directly to CEO, Timo Rein, Laurence will own and implement a marketing strategy to achieve the company’s dramatic growth ambitions, leading a marketing team which is expected to triple within a year.

About pipedrive

pipedrive is the CRM product designed by salespeople, for salespeople. As sales managers and trainers, the co-founders felt that existing CRM software solutions were inexplicably deeply inadequate for direct sales teams – the company says that current systems were ‘designed to please the top brass while ignoring the needs of the people doing the actual selling’.

The world agreed: built to help small sales teams manage intricate or lengthy sales processes, today pipedrive is used by over 10,000 companies in 100+ countries worldwide. The company was named the Best Employer in Estonia in 2016 (the business runs a development hub there), and won Best Enterprise SaaS B2B Startup at The Europas in 2015.
