Renovata continues its association with Spring Inc., places Satwik Seshasai as CTO

Spring Inc., the New York-based e-commerce venture dubbed “The Shoppable Instagram” by TechCrunch, has appointed Satwik Seshasai as Chief Technology Officer following an executive search led by Renovata.

Spring is a single shopping destination where people can discover products curated for quality and buy them directly from the brands and designers that make them. The service has been designed for a mobile-first experience, with founders David and Alan Tisch claiming that their ultimate aim is to reinvent the shopping mall for a mobile audience. The business has received $97.5m in three rounds of funding, with the Series C (May 2017) featuring among others Series B investors Groupe Arnault, Thrive Capital and BoxGroup.

An alum of MIT, Satwik began his career as a software developer for IBM, gaining several development lead credits to his name, including the IBM WebSphere Portal search. In 8 years at IBM, he rose rapidly to become Program Director of Engineering for IBM SmartCloud; responsible for a 100+ member engineering team and taking full responsibility for the business design of systems to support IBM’s strategic cloud offerings. Since 2012, he has taken CTO and angel advisor/technology roles in a range of high-growth businesses. He defined the technology vision for NextDocs, the compliance business and one of Inc500’s top ten fastest growing US software companies. His healthtech advisory roles include Oscar and Dabo Health. And he has served as founding CTO of Segovia Technology, seeking to facilitate mobile payments and mobile banking services to the unbanked in developing countries.

Reporting directly to co-founder and CEO, Alan Tisch, Satwik will build, inspire and lead the engineering team working across all of Spring’s technologies through a doubling in its size. He will manage the deployment of technology as a strategic enabler of value to the business and embed a culture of innovation to keep the team at the cutting edge.
