Sean T. Flynn takes Gympass US GM role; search by Renovata

Gympass, the business which connects employee wellness programs with local fitness centres, gyms and activities has appointed Sean T. Flynn as US General Manager, following a successful Executive Search by Renovata.

Founded in Sao Paolo, Brazil, in 2012; but now headquartered in New York, Gympass makes the delivery of fitness as a corporate benefit simple, quantifiable and genuinely valued by employees. Gympass holders have access to a range of local fitness services unrestricted by brand or provider, plus additional exclusive offers, all accessed through a flexible and convenient app. The service now covers over 34,000 gyms in almost 6,000 cities across the globe. The business promises employers a proven ROI from deploying fitness as an employee benefit, with a more active and therefore productive workforce. Providers, meanwhile get a new revenue stream and predictable new usage patterns with zero marketing spend. Gympass has raised more than $80M in venture capital financing from top-tier investors including General Atlantic, Atomico, Valor Capital, Redpoint eVentures and Kaszek Ventures.

An ex US Army Officer, Sean is a graduate of West Point Military Academy; he also has an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. Since leaving the army, he has spent his whole career in sales and business leadership. Initially he established, from scratch, a successful medical devices distribution venture. He then joined IBM where, using both his military and sales expertise, he became responsible for all IBM software sales to the US Department of Defense and Intelligence, leading a 90+ strong sales team for seven years.

After a 12-month placement on the IBM Senior Executive Training Program (during which he assisted in the execution of four acquisitions on three continents), he became IBM’s VP Global Sales, Talent Management & Collaboration Solutions. Globally responsible for IBM’s HR software lineup, Sean led a team of 700 sales professionals across 7 geographies. He joins Gympass with an enviable reputation for developing scalable businesses that deliver consistent outperformance and growth.

Reporting directly to Co-founder and CEO, Cesar Carvalho, Sean will manage the US P&L; and above all will be responsible for driving growth in the US market. He will develop the existing infrastructure in the US (five regional territories, c70 staff and growing) and build profitable relationships both with fitness providers and corporate clients and their employees.
